More than Two Decades, Rescuing the Colonial Art

In the heart of heritage in The Round, the workshop of Maestro José Luis Jiménez preserves a discipline that flourished in the SIXTEENTH and SEVENTEENTH centuries: the inlaid quito and the joinery assembly fine.

Each work is constructed piece by piece without shortcuts industrial. The selection of woods —such as cedar, walnut, and mahogany— is combined with inlaid millimeter of bone natural shell and mother-of-pearl, achieving compositions that they have rescued the splendor of the Quito School.

His work not only revives geometric and floral colonial, but the complex engineering of the furniture Status: bargueños with locks of forging and drawers the secret (*gavetines hidden*) the mechanism of which is known only to the author and his owner.

"The wood does not forgive in a hurry. The inlaid requires the devotion of the friar and the accuracy of the geometrician". — José Luis Jiménez, Teacher Workshop
